COVID-19 OFFICE POLICIES

When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car. Call or text our front desk upon your arrival at 831-373-2055. We’ll inform you when we are ready for you to enter the office.

For procedure appointments, only the patient that is being treated will be allowed to enter the office along with one parent or guardian. If you are comfortable waiting in the car, that is preferable. To respect social distancing, no other family members or friends will be allowed inside. If you need to bring other non-patient children with you to the appointment, we ask that you call the office upon your arrival and notify us. We will call you back when we are ready for you to walk the patient to our screening desk. Once screened, we will take the patient back for care while you return to your car with the other children. Please do not leave the parking lot.

To maintain social distancing for our teams and patients, we request that parents wait in the car. Exceptions will be made for younger children and children with special healthcare needs, or if you prefer to come inside.

If your child has significant health issues, we will request that they are appointed earliest in the morning.

A parent and children older than 2  must wear a face mask while in the office and also follow social distancing guidelines.

Yours and your child’s temperature will be taken by staff using a touchless thermometer. If your temp or your child’s temp is above 100.4 degrees F, we will reschedule your child’s appointment.

A simple questionnaire assessing your contacts, travel, and well-being will be asked of all persons entering the office. Any question indicating recent exposure to someone with COVID-19 or having signs and symptoms of the same will be asked to leave, and not return for the specified 14-day self-quarantine requirement.

Our prize boxes will be closed. A prize will already be in the goody bag.

At the completion of the appointment, if you are waiting in your car, you will be called to return to the office.

You'll also notice other changes made throughout the office to comply with the newly-extended guidelines to our personal protective equipment (PPE). These are to ensure the health and well-being of our patients and our team. We will look different than usual. Please take the time to explain and show pictures to your child about what the increased PPE will look like.  We will be wearing head covers, gowns, face shields, gloves and masks at all times.

Multiple air purifiers with HEPA filters have been added to the office.

Due to the amount of PPE that our team needs to wear, our office may be cooler than normal. We recommend that your child wear a sweater or sweatshirt.

Magazines, books, and toys have been removed from the office to avoid cross-contamination.

Food and drink will not be allowed in the office.

Our entire team will also undergo daily Covid-19 screenings and have their temperatures taken upon arrival to our office.

We will be using high evacuation suction units and additional extraoral suction units to decrease the aerosol created during dental visits to protect our patients and team.

We will be appointing patients by the urgency of the care needed that was previously cancelled due to the pandemic. We appreciate your patience.

Due to the fact that people can be asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19, for the safety of our team and patients, we ask that you contact our office if you or your child test positive for Covid-19 within 2 weeks of your appointment.

Due to the increased cost of PPE, most insurance carriers have elected not to offer coverage to subscribers.  Please be aware if your plan doesn’t offer coverage, there will be a $10 PPE charge for each visit.
